Jerusalem’s mayor Nir Barkat spoke about the recent UNSC Resolution 2334 and his support for PM Netanyahu’s “strong stance.”
“They have always said in Israel, from Ben Gurion through Begin, that it does not matter what the nations do, it matters what Israel does. I wish to strengthen the Prime Minister, who stands in front of the national camp as a shield, protecting the rights and status of the Jewish nation and the Torah of Israel, and he stands as a wall against all who would weaken us. I call also upon the President of the United States to act fast and relate to the nations that Jerusalem is not open to negotiation.”
Mayor Nir Barkat is a successful hi-tech entrepreneur that has helped transform Jerusalem into a modern bustling capital while safeguarding access to its holy sites and spiritual atmosphere.
Minister of Education denounced Resolution 2334 at the Kotel today.
“We’re standing here, in the city of Jerusalem, our eternal capital for 3,00 years,” Bennett said. “Two days ago the UNSC passed a bad decision, to consider this land, our capital, conquered territory.
“But no resolution can change the fact that this land, Jerusalem, is our capital. And no people can be a conqueror in their own land. That’s why this resolution, like many of the earlier resolutions, will be thrown into the dustbin of history.”
Noting the recent increase in terror attacks around the world, Bennett said, “Thousands of terrorists in the world, from Berlin through Paris and New York take a lot of opportunity and happiness in this resolution, of their friends from the Palestinian Authority. The same friends that conduct terror attacks in Berlin, that run over people, that use knives and bombs; that gave out candy when the Twin Towers are destroyed.”
“This is a historic day, which contains both danger and opportunity. I choose to see the opportunity,” Bennett continued. “It’s time for Israel to reevaluate its approach during the past 25 years. The approach where we adopted the Oslo accords, the approach were we gave up territory in Gaza, the approach where we declared the need for a Palestinian state. We thought this approach would gain us sympathy from the world, but instead we got tens of thousands of missiles from Gaza, thousands of Israelis murdered on the streets and one condemnation after another.
“It’s time to decide between two alternatives: surrendering our land, or sovereignty. We’ve tried surrendering our land, it didn’t work; it is time for sovereignty.
“In the near future we will take steps to apply Israeli law to Ma’ale Adumim and the rest of Judea and Samaria. It’s time for Israel to decide,” Bennett concluded.
The State of Israel and Donald Trump flexed their political muscles successfully on Thursday by pressuring Egypt’s El-Sisi to drop the latest anti-Israel resolution at the UN.
The resolution called for an immediate cessation of all settlement building. Both Trump and Israel wasted no time going after the resolution on social media.
The US should veto the anti-Israel resolution at the UN Security Council on Thursday.
Yet, El-Sisi probably dropped the resolution when he understood that his joint campaign with Israel against Al-Qeida would be curailed if he continued to table it. El-Sisi needs Israel as a partner in his fight against Al Qeida and the Muslim Brotherhood. The resolution made this partership weaker as it backstabbed the very country that has helped maintain stability on El Sisi’s Sinai border and in Gaza. These are two places that El-Sisi cannot afford to let flare up or he risks his regime.
Is the Worst Over?
This is only the beginning. New Zealand’s term maybe over on January 1st, but they are insisting on tabling a resolution that dilineates the final countours of a “Palestinian State.” New Zealand’s resolution is a game changer and is the one Obama may abstain from. If so, then Obama will de-facto create a Palestinian terrorist entity within Israel’s borders before he leaves office.
Margot Wallstrom, the outspoken anti-Israel Swedish Foreign Minister is at it again. This time she sent out the following tweet as she left a meeting in Ramallah:
Returning from Palestine. Action is needed to save the two state solution. Settlements and demolitions thwart conditions and hope for peace.

Of course Wallstrom is not new to the anti-Israel camp. 2 years ago she accused Israel of executing “Palestinians” without trial. She has continuously attacked Jews living in Judea and Samaria as “obstacles to peace” while ignoring terror attacks carried out by Arab terrorists against Jews in Israel.
With Sweden taking the reigns at the UN Security Council after January 1st Wallstrom is more than ready to take aim at Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
“We discussed our (upcoming) presidency,” Wallstrom said after meetings in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, according to the Swedish Expressen newspaper. “We hope that it will be possible for the Security Council to adopt a resolution on the settlements.”
All of this would be typical of the EU and many of its more anti-Israel members. In most years these statements and votes barely cause a yawn, but with Obama looking to make some sort of world changing impact before he leaves office in 33 days, abstaining from a Swedish resolution that would in effect delineate the final borders of Israel is all too possible. If the resolution passes Wallstrom will become the mother of Palestine. A mantle she will cherish.
In light of Trump’s announcement to nominate David Friedman as the next US Ambassador to Israel, Arab leadership in Judea and Samaria under the Palestinian Authority has threatened war and chaos over the fact that the appointment likely means Trump is very serious about moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.
“I look David Friedman and Trump in the eye and tell them — if you were to take these steps of moving the embassy and annexing settlements in the West Bank, you are sending this region down the path of something that I call chaos, lawlessness and extremism,” Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary General Saeb Erekat said, according to AFP.
The Palestinian Information Center reported that Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Council in Jerusalem declared that moving the US embassy to Jerusalem would be a declaration of war.
“If we assume that this alleged pledge has been realized and carried out, this means that America recognizes that Jerusalem is the capital of the Jews and has thus declared a new war against the people of Palestine, and also against the entire Arab and Muslim nations,” Sheikh Sabri stated.
The fiery comments don’t seem to have deterred the inocoming Trump administration’s determination about moving the embassy. The only question is how and which date.
