Showdown in Syria: Russia vs. the West, Leaving Israel Isolated

Russia’s success in dividing NATO by breaking off Turkey from the alliance has not been lost on the European American members of the alliance. There first reaction has been to blame Russia for the failure of the truce to stick, but in reality American attacks on various targets has thrown the onus onto the Obama administration not Putin.

The West’s interest in Syria is twofold.  The first is to prevent Iran from building a Shiite crescent from Iranian soil to the mediterranean.  The second is to push back on Russia’s growing control of the Middle East.  On both of these accounts, Putin’s entrance into the fray last year threw the West off of their playbook and they have been rushing to recalibrate ever since.

The above, coupled with Russia’s move to putting the screws on Washington’s regime change in the Ukraine has divided the alliance and kept it from putting up a real fight against Russia. By blaming Putin for the collpase of the truce, Washington and the countries in NATO that are of like mind are trying to set the stage for their increased involvement in the Syrian theatre.

Israel On Its Own

The last thing Israel wants and needs right now is increased fighting between the West and Russian forces on the ground in Syria.  Although it has supported regime change in Syria from the beginning, the Israeli cabinet and Defense Establishment will not push that at the expense of ruining their détente with Putin. Nothing in the West’s playbook gives them assurances that Israel will be defended from Russian and Iranian aggression if America and NATO stand up to Russia.

According to news reports and other sources, Syria-Hezbollah backed by Iran are preparing to launch the same sort of attacks they have been doing on rebels in the Aleppo area next to the Golan. The presence of the Syrian army and Hezbollah so close to the Israeli border seems to imply that it is in fact Israel which will suffer a response if NATO increases their involvement in Syria.

This is ultimately why Bibi has reached out to Putin to put out any flames that may occur.  The challenge is that it may be beyond Putin to stop the Iranian backed armies of Assad and Nasralla from attacking Israel.  After all Putin needs them to finish the job in the rest of Syria.

With Obama about to leave office and being no friend of the Jewish state anyway, Israel is on its own.

What Will Obama Do When Trump Wins?

After throwing everything including the kitchen sink at Donald Trump it is beginning to sink into the minds of Democrats that he might actually won. Hillary has never been a great candidate, but Trump has shattered her playbook irrevocably.

The real question is what will Barack Obama due? Gone is his legacy. Gone is the Democratic coalition for generations to come. Gone is the neo-conservative hold on foreign policy that he covered for. Gone is the complete hold over the black American vote.

I do not think Obama is going to fade away. No the media wants to believe in the guy they championed as the world’s savior. Look for some actions to be taken by Obama to curb the growing violence due to “police brutality.”

If he cannot steal the election for Hillary he can create so much chaos for Trump that Trump will be distracted fixing it, he will lose his ability to fix the real problems.

America and the world need to get ready, the real rumble is about to begin.

OCTOBER SURPRISE? Tensions with North Korea Rising as Nuclear Capable Bomber Flies Over South Korea

The news is buzzing with the US’s attempt to rattle North Korea.

Most observers would assume this is just saber rattling from the Obama administration, but this sort of act can have dire consequences for all sides and Obama knows this.  With Hillary taking a dive (literally) the campaign needs a serious reset.  Is Obama gambling with global safety with the above sort of actions?

Truthfully, North Korea has to be dealt with, but the timing of such an action is highly suspect. In a world which is increasingly getting out of control, flying nuclear capable bombers as a show of force may actually trigger the sort of war everyone wants to avoid.

Is a war with North Korea or even China the October surprise?

Hillary Faints, Donald Trump Surging, and 9-11

If Donald Trump ends up as the next US President, pundits will look back at today’s September 11th memorial as the turning point in the race. The even that shifted and cemented The Donald’s surge was the video below, showing a weak knead Hillary Clinton, collapsing on her way into her van.

Yet, 9-11 of 2016 is much more than the seeming turnaround of Donald Trump’s campaign. The date serves as a reminder that the world we all live in is vastly different from the one that existed 15 years previous. Our world is intrinsically intertwined by online movements and behaviours. The developing world is rapidly closing in on a frail and lost West. The Middle East is in complete chaos as the USA recedes to the other side of the Atlantic.

Somehow, Americans have been fed a stream of news on an almost minute by minute basis creating a cacophony of noise that is neither meaningful or meaningless, but rather leaves those who have yet to break free lost and confused. Today they achieved clarity.  The script was broken and this time for good.

This was supposed to be Hillary’s coronation.  A country transformed from the cowboy of Bush to the community organizer of Obama.  Hillary was supposed to bring it all together, but age and stress have taken their toll and now a real estate mogul turned reality TV star is approaching the unthinkable, the Presidency.

The World stands on the crossroads and once again 9-11  is the date which it all happened.

As the US Recedes from the Middle East, Putin Takes Over

With Russia’s growing presence in every area of the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean, the US increasingly finds itself shut out of the “Great Game” of the 21st century.  Below is a list of moves where Putin has been able to get the best of the USA:

  1. Creating an air defense umbrella over the eastern Levant
  2. Becoming the dominant force in taking on ISIS
  3. Resurrecting the government of Bashar Assad
  4. Pushing Israel to a neutral position in regards to the USA and Russia
  5. Prying Turkey out of the NATO alliance that is fighting ISIS
  6. Luring Greece as a major partner
  7. Projecting stable leadership in the region

The list goes on, but the point is clear that Russia is taking over as the next sheriff of the Middle East.

Israel Loses

For a long time Israel had viewed Putin as a positive alternative to the Arabists in the USA government. The pro-Russian faction in the Israeli government had pushed for an Israeli pivot thinking that Putin could be trusted not to force the “Palestinian” issues.  With Russia’s announcement that they intend to host a peace summit between Israel and the PA, that assumption was buried. Despite Israel’s increase in trade partners and economic success, the government now understands that they are all alone.
