Jund al-Aqsa: What is America Hiding in Syria?

With the American military claiming the recent attack on the Syrian Arab Army a mistake, evidence seems to indicate that other forces are at play indicating that this attack was far from a mistake.  The attack on the Syrian Arab Army comes at a time when the fragile cease fire hammered out between the Americans and Russians appears to be unravelling already.

Given the fact that the Americans have been operating in Eastern Syria for a while, how could they possibly make a mistake like this?  Afterall they know the Deir Ez-Zor  area far better than the other players, even Russia.

Something that will shed light on the attack is the group the Syrian Arab Army was fighting. Their name is Jund al-Aqsa and despite their affiliation to radical salafist ideology the US only named them a terrorist entity 3 days ago.  In fact they were funded by the US and given sophisticated weaponry in their fight against the Syrian Army.

Salman Rafi Sheikh of the New Eastern Outlook says the following:

A look at the pattern of how the US-led coalition has been striking in the region would further reveal that the last strike, which killed more than 60 Syrian soldiers, was not simply a mistake. ISIS and the Syrian army have been fighting in the region, in Deir ez-Zor, for a long time. How come it be that the US led coalition never struck ISIS when it was rather successfully moving westward, for example, when it took Palmyra last year? Consistent with its current narrative, the US officials might like to put on this question another mask of “coincidence” and deep “regret.”

Since the “mistaken” American strike Jund al-Aqsa has been on a role in other areas, most notably Hama farther to te West and near Aleppo.  In those areas they have pushed back the Syrian Army and gained considerable ground.

The American air strike seems more like a supporting mission that was uncovered by the Russians.  But there is more.  The ceasefire was opposed by Ashton Carter the American Secretary of Defense and most of the Defense establishment who are hell-bent on removing Assad from power by any means necessary. They have been using ISIS style terror entities as proxies for a while and until the Russians entered the fray it worked.

Now with the Russia and the Syrian Army pushing back most of the gains the US proxies made over the last few years, the US defense establishment is taking one last chance by using ISIS off shoots like Jund al-Aqsa to push back against the Syrian Army.  By declaring the air strikes a mistake the US hopes to cover he fact that ISIS as we know it is really the Frankenstein of the Department of Defense led by Ashton Carter.

This Frankenstein has gone mad.

BREAKING NEWS: Israel Aligns with NATO as Alliance Frays at the Seams

Israel is celebrating its opening of a permanent mission to NATO.  The role was n question until Turley and Israel patched their differences up and renewed diplomatic ties.

“Israel attributes great importance to its relations with NATO. The opening of a permanent office reflects Israel’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region,” Leshno-Yaar, Israel’s ambassador to the EU said in the statement.

Despite the positive development that took years to achieve, the strategic landscape across the world is drastically different from just a few years ago.  NATO is not what it used to be.  This is due both to a reassertive Russia as well as major differences in NATO’s use of an intervention force.

Break the BDS

With NATO having overstepped its bounds in many areas from Eastern Europe to North Africa a growing chorus of anti-interventionists have begun to push back and openly question NATO’s purpose and mission in a world vastly different that even the post-cold war period.

With this in mind it begs the question of why Israel needs to be part or even tacitly connected to the alliance. The answer is it doesn’t.

The only reason why Israel is pushing ahead with its NATO mission is ensure that remains on more than friendly terms with NATO.  A receding NATOis just as interventionist as always, but just a bit weaker. In a volatile world Israel wants to make sure it keeps its foot in the west as it continues to court Russia and China.

BREAKING NEWS: Stabbing in Jerusalem Raises Concerns of New Terror Wave

With the Jewish New Year fast approaching, the stabbing and car ramming that appeared to recede over the last few months have seemingly returned. This morning two border patrolman, one female and one male were seriously injured when an Arab Jihadist stabbed them. The assailant was shot and critically wounded.

Although it appears to be an isolated incident, the number of incidents are on the rise again. Before Shabbat there was an attempted car ramming in Kiryat Arba, thwarted stabbing at Damascus Gate, and a stabbing in the Samaria region.  On Shabbat a Jihadist attacked an Israeli soldier in Hebron, stabbing him lightly before he was shot and killed.

Today’s attack happened by Herod’s Gate near the Flowers Gate, where a renewed Jewish presence is thriving after many years of being Judenrein.  The Flowers Gate area of the Old City was a thriving Jewish area in the middle ages until the crusaders massacred them.

“Police units have cordoned off the area,” Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. “There is heightened security there now, and we are searching for the terrorist’s identity. Police bomb disposal experts are checking the area.”

The government has poured more soldiers into Judea and Samaria to prevent more attacks a repeat of what became known as the stabbing intifada.

Vandalism against Jewish institutions is not suprising in Jerusalem’s seamline neighborhoods where Jews lives near Arabs.  This attack is a bit of a shock, because Katamon is fairly central.  The use of crosses is either a ploy by Arab vandals or a troubling development within the broader Christian Israeli community.

Jerusalem police have opened an investigation into the incident and are searching for suspects.
